Assault Suits Valken was released on December 18, 1992 on
the Super Famicom in Japan with further ports released in 1993
as Cybernator in North America and PAL regions for the Super
NES®. Cybernator would censor various
portions of the original story. The producer was Toshiro
Tsuchida who would go on create the Front Mission series after
leaving Masaya Games.
The plot would center on Jake Brain, a soldier who was drafted
into the Pacific States’ Marine Corp. He pilots the ASS-017A
Federation Assault Suit and is only interested in being a soldier - not bothering with politics or patriotism. Nonetheless, his
platoon is constantly tasked to engage the Federation across
the Earth and moon, facing off some of the strongest mechs.
The game has two endings - good and bad. The game was
widely praised in both Japanese and Western publications with
many posthumous reviewers claiming it to be one of the best
on the console of all time.

With the depletion of fossil fuels in the 2050s, unease within the population has morphed into anger and conflict. Territorial skirmishes continued to boil until 2101 when United Pacific States and Federation forces began constructing massive artillery bases,
intergalactic frigates, and heavy armor mechanized suits to use in this war that had engulfed the Earth and its moon. Jake Brain boards his ASS-117A assault suit and flies into this conflict that has erupted to make as much of a difference as one soldier can across 7 immersive stages with 4 types of upgradeable weapons.
